Polymer Selection Process Begins!

We finished and delivered our citizen science kits to our citizen scientists last week. The experiments that our citizen scientists will undertake are vital to our overall objective!

Our team has proposed three different polymer chemistries for consideration. The names and structures can be seen below. The SBMA monomer is zwitterionic, meaning that it has both negative and positive charges within the same structure, while the TMA/CAA and TM/SA monomers create a polyampholyte polymer, meaning that it is made up of two large molecules of opposite charge. We know that all three polymers resist bacteria well, however, we have no idea how they compare to each other. This is where our citizen scientists will perform novel experimentation to provide us with critical data to complete our project!
