Computer Assisted Design (CAD)

We have recently completed a preliminary design of our experiment within a Computer Assisted Design (CAD) program SolidWorks! SolidWorks allows us to produce a 3-Dimensional model of our experimental box that has the exact dimensions. Each piece can be individually created and scaled as necessary. These pieces can then be put together like a puzzle to create an assembly.

This drawing is a very important part of the experimental design process as it gives us an excellent visual representation of what we are working with. The assembly allows us to play with various dimensions of our box as well as placement and orientation of our individual components.

Looking to the future, we will use these CAD models to develop a physical model using a 3D printer! Stay tuned for more experimental build updates!
